With the opening of our new Sydney showroom, we spoke with Interior Designer and Stylist Briellyn Turton about all things design, furniture, and more. Briellyn visited the showroom to explore our collection of furniture and homeware items.

RJ: How do you approach integrating different styles and trends into your designs/content?

Briellyn: Creating transitional and eclectic spaces is where my design philosophy naturally leans. In most cases it's hard to create interior spaces that are truly meaningful to someone if you are bound to one style. We collect items of meaning, colour and textural preferences as well as memories throughout our life, meaning the collection of all those things in a built form is inherently eclectic and should feel 'collected'.

RJ: What role do you think furniture plays in transforming a space?

Briellyn: Furniture is huge in transforming a space. Aside from the obvious additions of shape, colour and texture, furniture can completely change how and how often a room is used (for better or worse). You can manipulate thoroughfare or focal points by the way you use furniture in a space, it's very powerful.

RJ: What colours and textures are you loving right now?

Briellyn: I love love love tactile textures. something that you want to interact with. As for colour, my current hyperfixation is golden yellow and cherry. And as for colour combinations, silver and blue hues are living in my mind rent free.

RJ: What were your favourite pieces in our showroom and what is on your wishlist?

Briellyn: I couldn't take my eyes off the Floss Bed, I love the scale particularly with the deep rust colour it's been upholstered in. The Berg Sofa in Corduroy Fawn was also a highlight. As well as the great selection of Stone coffee tables.

RJ: What excited you the most about visiting us at RJ today?

Briellyn: It's amazing to have a showroom in Sydney as it's tough buying furniture only, it's really something you want to see, touch and feel.
