Have you ever looked at a living room and thought, “Wow everything works together perfectly!” That’s cohesion! A cohesive living room feels harmonious, with all elements working together effortlessly.
We share below how we have created this relaxing living room that you’ll never want to leave.
Design Tip #1: Create Contrast
Contrasting light and dark colours creates a harmonious space. If a room has too many light colours it won’t be eye-catching and if it’s too dark, it will feel overwhelming. The light sofa, coffee table and rug are perfectly balanced out by the dark walnut entertainment unit.
Design Tip #2: Repeat Materials
A great way to establish cohesion is by repeating the same or similar materials in a space. Having a matching coffee table and side table creates a sense of calm as there aren’t too many competing textures.
Design Tip #3: Inspiring Art
If you’re struggling to come up with a colour scheme for your room, try starting with your artwork for inspiration. Pull colours from your favourite piece of art and repeat them through cushions, vases and other homeware. Doing this is an inexpensive way to give your interiors a facelift and create cohesion through colour and repetition. It is also easy to change up your cushions and artwork to give your space a whole new look without the expense of a major renovation.
